Jeff Otah failed his physical with the Jets, voiding the terms of his trade from the Panthers.
New York wanted Otah to compete for the starting job at right tackle.
"He did everything we asked for the past week and the terms of the trade weren't met so he's going back to Carolina," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said.

Mike Jenkins Didn't Request Trade From Cowboys
Mike Jenkins, who is unsure for the 2012 season opener because of offseason right shoulder surgery, says he never requested a trade from the Cowboys.
"Y'all haven't got any quote out of me yet, so as long as it hasn't come from my mouth I don't understand how a lot of people can come up with a lot of things," the cornerback said.
Jenkins said he did not request a trade from the team, however, he was not sure if his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had made a request.
Steelers: Wallace 'Not Available For Trade'
The Steelers are denying speculation that they could look to trade disgruntled wide receiver Mike Wallace.
"Mike Wallace is not available for trade," general manager Kevin Colbert told ESPN.
Wallace, who has yet to sign his $2.472 million restricted free-agent tender, wants a long-term contract and is currently holding out of training camp.
Raiders Trade Murphy To Panthers
The Raiders have traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Panthers.
Oakland has Denarius Moore, Jacoby Ford, Darrius Heyward-Bey and great depth at the position.
The terms of the deal have not been released.
